We miss you Mac. Our Good Dog
13 years ago we went to Petsmart to buy catfood in Valencia CA. Our dog, Penny at 17 years old had passed away 5 months earlier. The Castaic Animal Shelter was having a dog day at Petsmart. we looked at a few dogs but, Mac captured our hearts. He came and sat in our laps nearly knocking us down, he looked up at us with those big eyes and that was it!
We were told his name was popcorn and he was 10 months old. On the ride home Jay said popcorn is no name for a big pure white male dog. And we renamed him MAC. And told him he had to get along with cats. MAC got along with everyone, but do not ring the doorbell, so he was a great guard dog even though he would never hurt anyone.
He has been with us through the good times and bad. He saw our daughters grow up and have their own families. The grandkids loved him. They would roll, walk, sleep, and crawl over him and he never complained. When he heard his family coming he was right at the door or out the door to greet them.
The first few times we took him to the dog park he hung around the people. Once he got the idea he loved it. He was as fast as any dog in the park, the whippets and greyhounds gave him quite a challenge. After he had his races you could see a big grin on his face, it was terrific to watch. We took him hiking, and to parks, he never got out of site of us and you only had to call him once and he was back at your side.
When we moved to Colorado he had never seen snow, the first few days we had to go out on the patio with him and tell him it was okay,go,go,go.
Our daughter and son in law had a Cairn Terrier and they were best buddies, They spent alot of their golden years together, Indy passed last year. So, we hope they are having a great time together in Doggie Heaven.
We want to thank Dr. Mulnix at Mulnix Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Miller at Peak Veterinary for making his last few years comfortable. Also, we need to thank Home to Heaven for coming to MAC’S bedside in our house and letting MAC have his last moments together with us.
